Don Danser Memorial Relays
The season opened up on Saturday April 2nd with the Don Danser Memorial Relays(Formerly known as the Hall of Fame Relays) at Maple Shade High School. Don Danser(a former Burlington County coach, official and then NJSIAA member in charge of Cross Country and Track and Field) passed away this past fall and the meet was named in his honor.
This was many girls first opportunity to see what a high school track meet is like. The weather did not disappoint as it is usually cold, windy, rainy, and has even snowed. The past week of awesome weather in the high 70's was quickly changed back to 50's and rainy. Unfortunately a few events were cancelled due to the wet conditions at the start of the meet.
In the Varsity events, the ladychiefs saw gold medal finishes in the 4x100(Alyssa Nastasi, Lua Fernandez, Carolyn Strauss, and Meghan Waninger), 4x1600m(Hailey Bookwalter, Kassie Kromish, Jess McAdams, and Julianne Gallagher), 4x800m(Sierra Keller, Anna Juszczyszyn, Gabby Moraschi, and Hailey Bookwalter), and the 1600m Sprint Medley Relay(Anna Juszczyszyn, Carolyn Strauss, Meghan Waninger, and Jess McAdams). In the Javelin Relay, Kaela Schrier had the farthest throw of the day at 113' 4" and teamed up with Rebecca Wolf 68' 3" for a combined 181' 7" to finish 2nd. Complete results can be found here
